Catalina island Wedding
Santa Catalina Island lays just southwest of Los Angeles and is just a one hour boat ride away on the Catalina Express.
Jessica and Brian wanted to have an intimate wedding here with a small group of their best friends and immediate family. The brides side of the family has relatives that lived on the island, so it holds a special meaning to them besides the fact that it’s just jaw droopingly beautiful and has a really pleasant vibe.
As a group, we caught the Catalina Express from Long Beach which took us right to Avalon. From there, we grabbed some food and signed their marriage license in the bar with a very laid back fellow in a bucket hat, shorts and flip flops before the couple parted ways to get dressed for the ceremony.
The ceremony took place on on of the small beaches by the harbor with the iconic casion in the background. The couple read their vows from gorgeous custom vow books made by Copper Cloud Creative Co. and Jessica brought one little surprise of her own (you’ll have to scroll to see what it was)!
The three of us then caught a golf cart (Catalina Island’s alternative to cars) with the Mayor who drove us up to Buena Vista point for some couples photos–and it did not disappoint! Ever since moving to California I have been eyeballing this location wanting to shoot here and it’s just as gorgeous in real life as it looks in all the pictures!
We returned to a group dinner and drinks on the beach where every guest was gifted a pair of personalized socks.
As the sun was starting to set, we all boarded the Catalina Express once again to head back to Long Beach. The bow of the boat was insanely windy! We had wanted to take a few romantic photos here on the way home, but the wind was so strong that we tapped out and just went back to enjoying drinks and company for the ride home.

San Diego is one of the most beautiful places in Southern California. We have beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets, and pretty good weather most of the time. It’s no wonder many couples like to take their engagement photos on a San Diego Beach.
This particular beach, Terramar, boasts an amazing view of the coastline as well as stunning cliffs and exposed rock that really add to the drama of this location.

Nothing excites me more than an email or Instagram DM from someone who is excited to plan a proposal for their special person. It’s usually a fun mix of nerves, excitement, overwhelming love, a little bit of chaos and a lot of relief once the deed is done.
CJ and Jill’s proposal was everything I love about proposals. CJ reached out on IG about planning a proposal in La Jolla. He loved the look of the cliffs, and the romantic warmth of the sun at sunset. We found this really pretty and quiet place overlooking La Jolla, which was great because we had been worried about the beach not being a very intimate locatio–so this seemed like the perfect compromise.
San Diego is known for it’s beaches, surf, and most importantly, it’s tacos.
Yet just fifty minutes outside of the city you can find yourself in a forested wonderland of sorts called Mount Laguna. The air here is fresh and crisp, the trees towering and fragrant and the adventure opportunity? Endless!
Mount Laguna is one of the most beautiful places to say your vows in Southern California. This 6,000 ft mountain resides on the eastern edge of the Cleveland National Forest and overlooks the forest as well as the Anza Borrego Desert. Open year round, this mountain receives snow fall in the winter and sunshine in the summer months. It can also get quite windy, so just be prepared to rock that windblown look. Hats are also a helpful accessory for fly away hair!
